Strokes...
A person that I really looked up to had a massive stroke earlier this weekend. Right now he's in the hospital fighting to recover. His family and friends are all around him, but he can't even respond to them. I rarely draw these days, but I once drew all the time.
I sketched and doodled pretty much everywhere - in classes, while chatting with friends, after coming home from work. About a decade ago,however, that changed. I went through a really rough period in life that lasted for five years. I wouldn't know until nearly the end of that period that I had actually gone through major depression. During that time period, I stopped drawing; I didn't find enjoyment in it anymore (or from much of anything else, for that matter). I could still appreciate the art of others, to a degree, but my heart simply wasn't in the act of personal creation.
